Xiaomi may be missing out on a true flagship phone in the Indian market, but, at least its budget and lower mid-range ambitions here appear to be well sorted. The company has launched -- for the lack of a better word -- a barrage of affordable smartphones in the Indian market over the last one year or so. Each of these phones -- whether it be the gigantic Mi Max, the mid-level Redmi Note 4, or the pint-sized Redmi 4A -- has done well in the country.

Although each of these phones has something unique to add to Xiaomi's long-list of credentials, it's the Redmi 3S that has actually set the tone and raised the bar so high, that it could well be called the company's greatest hit. Xiaomi launched a successor to the Redmi 3S, calling it simply the Redmi 4. The Redmi 4 borrows heavily from the Redmi 3S in almost all the major departments, and yet, when you look at it for the first time and take it out for a ride, it's a whole new ball game altogether.
